Our Missionaries

At Grace Church, we are honored to support the Rev. Richard Navarro and the Rev. Alma Jumuad-Navarro, a dedicated missionary couple serving with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. Originally from the Philippines, Richard and Alma are based in Taipei, Taiwan, where they work for the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) ministry.

With an estimated 100,000 Filipinos working in Taiwan at any given time — many of them as temporary migrant laborers — the Navarros offer critical spiritual support and social services to those navigating life far from home.

Their ministry includes worship services, pastoral counseling, and community outreach, with a focus on helping workers stay rooted in faith during their time abroad and beyond. As workers return to the Philippines, Richard and Alma help bridge the transition by connecting them to local congregations and offering continued pastoral care.

Alma brings a deeply personal connection to this work. She once worked as a factory laborer in Taiwan herself, a chapter of her life that was cut short by a vehicle accident. That turning point not only brought her back to the Philippines but also led her to hear God’s call to ministry.

Richard and Alma have two children, Charis and Chadash.
